Spot Welding

The automatic spot welder accepts the standard 230, 375, or 520mm wide panels or according to specification. The spot welder is a self contained unit that has 6 separate spots for welding, and welds each spot 72mm apart in each of the 2, 4, or 6 grooves in each cycle. The start output for welding is given by the computer controller.  The panel is gripped at both ends by pneumatic grippers, then the panel is indexed each cycle and the 2, 4, or 6 spots are welded. This is repeated automatically for the length required.  The spot welded panel is then automatically moved out of the welding fixture, ready for the next operation.

All weld controls are mounted in one enclosure and interfaced to the feeder indexing controls. The panel conveyor centers the panels for spot welding and automatically indexes the panel after spot welding.

Indexing spacing can easily be changed according to the program run.  This spacing is optimized to provide equal spacing of the spots along the spot weld seams so that the first and last spots in each seam are at each end of the seam.  This removes any close double spot welds at the seam ends, which is unsightly.
